Class & Crop

I'm ready to get back into the groove of holding classes. I really miss it when I haven't had one in a long time. For February, we'll be doing a 4-page spread using the very pretty Comfort kit from My Mind's Eye. This kit has so many great elements to it, and the layouts will hold several pictures of almost any type. Class begins at 10 am on Saturday, February 28, and will last about 2 hours. Cost is $15. Deadline for signing up is Friday, February 20.

I'm also holding my second monthly crop that same afternoon from 2 pm to 10 pm. We had so much fun at the last one, I wish we could do it every weekend! Cost for the crop is $10, and snacks, drinks, and a light supper are included. Sign up ASAP, as I have a definite number of spots available.

If you'd like to come to the class and stay for the crop, no problem! In fact, you'll even save a little money. Do both for only $20! Sign up today!

Scrappin' for St. Jude's

I am beyond excited! My plans for a charity crop for St. Jude's are finally being set into motion. Originally, I wanted to hold the crop during the same weekend as the Minden St. Jude's auction, but met with several roadblocks trying to get that set up (chiefly, a place to hold it). But now I finally have a date, and it's almost 6 months exactly from the ScrapPink crop. Perfect timing, I think.

So, our fabulous crop will be held Saturday, March 28 at the Country Place Restaurant in Minden. It's a great location and Mr. McFarland, the owner, is even going to provide lunch for the croppers!

I have so much to do now to prepare...from setting up classes to getting goodie bags ready to gathering prizes, to...to...well, everything! But it's a good kind of busy, and I am so glad to be doing it for my favorite cause, St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Stay tuned for details and registration.

January - Back to Business time

I love the holidays and all they bring with them - decorations, time with family, and, for us, sometimes vacations. But after all of the excitement, I always enjoy the downtime that comes in January. It's a time to refocus, renew, and, yes, reorganize. I know I'm not the only one who does this in January. One quick stroll through Wal-Mart shows you that everyone is on the bandwagon of simplifying and getting back to business.

For me, this means finally taking the time to get my backlog of photos organized in a way that helps me to find just what I'm looking for when I'm ready to scrap (see Stacy Julian's book Photo Freedom for an idea of the type of system I'm planning to employ). After the photos, the next step is to organize the supplies. I am fortunate enough to have a room dedicated to "my kreative pursuits," but the room has to serve three functions: business, home office, and scrap room. So, although it goes against my nature, I have to find a way to get organized and stay organized, or the room can turn into a disaster area all too quickly.

After all is said and done, I expect to be a high-functioning scrapbooking machine!

I hope that you are facing the new year with some reachable goals in mind for your scrapbooking. I hope I can help you reach your goals by way of monthly classes and crops. Stay tuned for more info about all the fun, scrappy things coming your way from me this year!
