Back from Mexico

Richard and I made it back into town around 1:30 yesterday. I was so tired from the trip I didn't even check my email till around 8:30. That's tired.

We had a great time. Saw some new places, met some new people, and enjoyed some new experiences (like a random security check and a Mexican cab ride). Most of all, we enjoyed reconnecting with each other.

Here are a few pics of our adventures. I can't wait to scrapbook them (196 in all)! And, of course, I've already got the papers - some Cosmo Cricket "Snorkel," some Fancy Pants "Soiree," and the AC Bailey July Kit of the Month - awesome!

Mission (somewhat) Accomplished!

Ahhhh! I'm FINALLY done overhaulin' my scrap space!

It feels so much roomier and clean in here, and I can't wait to get scrappin'.

Here are a few "after" pics.

My new and improved crop store. It will be SO much easier to find things!

The bookshelf where I keep my finished albums and idea books/magazines

My paper rack: The top rack is sorted by manufacturer/line (I still need to add some of the wire dividers in there); the middle rack is sorted by theme/color, and the bottom rack holds my textured and non-textured cardstock sorted by color, plus 8.5 x 11 cardstock and chipboard. I've also got my stickers hanging on the side on binder rings, as well as my shape templates.

My "office area." SO much more organized than it was, but I still want a nicer desk.

My Home Depot cabinet. Right now it is mostly empty. I will hold all my photo binders and category boxes once I get going with my Library of Memories system. It also holds a few tools I didn't have room for in other storage areas. This pic also shows my work space. It's just a card table, but it's just right for me.

These drawers hold all my tools and stamps. The plastic bin on top holds my miscellaneous page additions - some stickers, some flowers, that sort of thing. I like to be able to dig through my stuff. The problem will be not letting my stash grow bigger than this container. The bottom drawers in this tower are empty except for my extensive collection of zip-lock bags (???). They may wind up inside the cabinet, used for photos or memorabilia. I'm keeping my options open with that.

Perhaps my favorite part of this room - the sitting area. I can read, write, sketch, look through photos/albums. Nice.

What's left. Yep, allllll this is going in the garage sale. See something you like?

The Scrap Space Overhaul of 2009

So I joined a challenge on 2peas called the "Organize Your Stuff" challenge. In my usual form, I got way too enthusiastic and decided I didn't need to follow the challenge in steps, I'd just go ahead and dive in with both feet.

Here I am, five days later, with all my scrappy stuff sitting in my front hallway and dining room, and my scrap space is totally empty. BARE! See pics...

Hard to believe ALLLLLL that stuff was somehow crammed into a 6' x 6' space. Honest! I measured!

But, this whole process - while painful, for sure - has inpsired me! I am going to bring back into the space ONLY the things I love and will use. And the rest? Well, I'm going to throw a scrapbooking garage sale! So, if you'd like to join me in a couple weeks and sell off some of YOUR scrappy stash, well...get started purging sisters! I'm not sure of a date yet, but I'm thinking we'll do it on July 11 before the project class.

Stay tuned for pics of my uber-organized, dream scrap space. I'm believing it'll happen!

GASC 2009

Jakki and I had a blast, and next year we hope to make it an even longer trip!

We cropped, shopped, and took a class (for the first time in 6 years!). Here are a few pics of our adventures.

Waiting for the Friday night fun to begin...

Cindy and Melissa - making pretties at the Saturday night crop...and catching up on gossip! :)

Jakki and Mary working hard...

I've just finished making a 12-card class set...now what?

Everyone at the crop waiting for the Grand Prize drawing - a Silhouette. We think it was rigged. ;)

Tired but happy at the end of another fun girls' weekend.

Jumping into June!

I haven't been such a very good blogger lately. It's been quite some while since I've updated anything, but hopefully that's all about to change...at least for the next 2 1/2 months.

Yep...school's out, and I intend to enjoy every minute of it. That means TONS of scrapping, organizing, and gathering new ideas and inspiration. And it begins THIS week. I am going to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington. My best friend, Jakki, and I try to make this a yearly getaway. Some years it hasn't worked out, but most years it has, and this looks to be another one of them. We're attending two of the cropping parties and taking one class. I plan to take lots of pics and share them right here.

For now, I think I'll leave you with photos of our May class. We had a blast "blinging" things up on these layouts, and they turned out pretty cute, wouldn't you agree?

St. Jude Success!

It's been a week since our National Scrapbook Day/St. Jude Charity crop, and I am thrilled to report the results!

We had 14 croppers in attendance, and together we raised $300 for St. Jude! I want to thank all the ladies who got donations, bought raffle tickets, and bid on silent auction items. Your generosity touches my heart, and I know St. Jude will be appreciative of you as well.

Rita Beck raised the most money individually. Because of her fundraising, she wins the Tote-ally Cool Tool Tote by All My Memories. Congratulations, Rita, and thank you for your hard work!

I'd also like to thank the following businesses who so generously donated door prizes for our day:

Amber's Beauty Parlor
Blue Moon Java
Butterfly Garden
CJ's Diner
Fanette's Flower House
JP Ranch
Loye's Pharmacy
Merle Norman
Oak Alley Boutique
South Beach Experience
Tangles Beauty Salon

Finally, a picture speaks a thousand words. Here are a few shots of our fun day together!
